On September 3, 2025, Benedetta Armocida, Research Director of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and member of the Italian GBD Initiative, received the prestigious “2025 GBD Emerging Researcher Award”.

Established in 2020, the award celebrates scholars who contribute to advancing health assessment, improving data systems, and translating evidence into strategies that guide public health decision-making.

As a GBD collaborator since 2020, Benedetta has played a key role in the Italian GBD Initiative, improving the quality of the data used to generate estimates, strengthening subnational estimates, and ensuring that the results provide useful information for decision-making.

She was the first author of a landmark Lancet Child & Adolescent Health study on adolescent NCDs in the EU, which influenced health policy and planning across the region.

As the Italian GBD Initiative, we are happy and very proud of this recognition for Benedetta!! Benedetta has shown us how, with determination, professionalism, and passion, we can interact significantly with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation for the constant improvement of the

and Italian and global GBD estimates and their use in Public Health.
