Collaboration agreement

Some of the institutes with researchers involved in the Italian GBD network have signed a “Collaboration Agreement for the Development and Implementation of the Global Burden of Disease Project in Italy.”

From the Collaboration Agreement for the development and implementation of the Global Burden of Disease project in Italy:

“the Parties intend to engage in scientific collaboration in order to contribute to the development and better implementation of the GBD Project in Italy, including through the activation of a Network organization (Italian Global Burden of Disease Initiative), as a useful tool for bringing together different professionals, sharing and coordinating research activities, preparing integrated assessment tools on the impact of health policies implemented at the Regional and National levels, and contributing to the production of indicators useful for health policy-making in Italy and around the World.

All of the above, the Parties as identified above, having determined that the premises form an integral part of the agreement, agree and stipulate the following:

Art. 1 Purpose

1. The subject of this Agreement is a collaborative activity between the Parties for the development and better implementation of the Global Burden of Disease Project in Italy.

2. Specifically, objectives of the collaboration are:

– The activation of a Network organization (Italian Global Burden of Disease Initiative) . between the Parties, as a useful tool to bring together the different professional skills and work experiences of the various research groups and researchers, share and coordinate activities, prepare integrated assessment tools on the impact of health policies implemented at the Regional and National levels, and contribute to the production of indicators useful for the definition of health policies in Italy and around the World;

– National and regional discolure and dissemination of the results of the GBD project so as to make it a useful tool for health planning in Italy, also in relation to the path already taken by other countries;

– The optimization and intensification of data and information exchange work with the IHME and, in agreement with the latter body, the production of estimates and evaluations in terms of GBD referring to Italy and its territorial subdivision into regions (19 Regions and 2 Autonomous Provinces), with the aim of elaborating specific working hypotheses and deepening and developing thematic aspects relevant to national and regional health planning;

– la realizzazione di progetti di ricerca congiunti nell’ambito dell’iniziativa GBD e l’eventuale accesso in partnership a possibili finanziamenti.“
